Starting as a mission church in 1897, the All Saints Church, Chevy Chase Parish has been serving the community for more than 120 years. There is a lot of value in not only their teachings and religious legacy, but in their historic walls, as well. We have worked with this metro DC church in the past, and were delighted when they returned with a new project needing some Next Day solutions!
All Saints Church recently underwent some rebranding to update its look and get some life breathed back into it – visually, of course! There were some constraints we and the church had to work within, as there were sketches, proposals, committee approvals, revisions based on those approvals, and very detailed specifics that gave us the boundary walls defining our workspace. The back-and-forth stage is what dominated the majority of this project, but it allowed for precise planning and complete customer satisfaction.
The design process is intrinsically part of our nature, so the creative choices were easy and readily available. Challenges set in with remaining creative with the required restrictions. Some signage had dedicated space and needed to be replaced to scale, while other locations didn’t have existing signage and needed to be drafted and laid out digitally to let the committee see what the proposed end result would look like. In addition, we were also confined to the hardware approved and available for use. Many, many mock-ups and proofs were made. Some were of the designs themselves, while created supplemental materials showcased the design in would-be action.
The strong, regal look of the new signage was best represented by using an exterior HDU foam (high-density urethane) that was carved and meticulously painted for clean, crisp edges in the lettering edges.
From the beginning of the project, where we held our first conversation and consultation, all the way to the ending where we reached the completed installation, the entire project spanned about six months. The bulk of this time was in feedback and revision. Installation itself took only one day.
Deep blue and pristine white now reach past the green manicured lawn and hedges to welcome new and returning visitors directly into the Lord’s house.
